School Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

We appreciate your support in helping ensure a smooth and safe drop-off and pick-up process each day. Please take a moment to read the following procedures carefully and follow them consistently to keep all students safe and minimize delays.

Morning Drop-Off

All morning drop-off takes place in the lower parking lot. If you plan to park and walk your child to a gate, you will need to do so at the 3rd grade gate only. Gates will open at 8:25 AM, which is also when adult supervision begins. Please do not drop students off before that time, as there will be no staff on duty to supervise them.

Students in Kindergarten, Panda, and Children’s Choice programs must be dropped off at their designated gates, not through the general drop-off line or 3rd grade gate. These designated areas are in place to ensure younger students are safely delivered to staff and classrooms in a calm, familiar environment.

Afternoon Pick-Up

For families using the pick-up line, please ensure that your colored sign, which was distributed at Meet and Greet, is clearly visible. This should be propped up on the passenger side dashboard or hung from your rearview mirror so that staff can quickly identify your child and call them to the correct car.

It is essential that you remain in your vehicle at all times while in the pick-up or drop-off line. If you need to get out of the car for any reason—including opening the trunk or assisting your child into their seat—you will need to park and walk to the 3rd grade gate for pick-up. Students should enter the vehicle from the passenger side only, and if buckling assistance is needed, you may pull forward into a parking space to do so safely and without holding up the line.

We ask for your patience and cooperation, especially during the extreme heat when teachers and staff are outside managing traffic and supervising students. Your cooperation helps the process go faster and more smoothly for everyone. A quick thank-you or a wave can go a long way in showing appreciation for their hard work.

As an alternative to the pick-up line, please remember that bus transportation is available and has plenty of room. If your child is open-enrolled, you are welcome to fill out a Bus Exception Form, which can be found here:

You may also choose to pick up your child at the 3rd grade gate by parking and walking in. In this case, you must wait at the gate until dismissal time, and your child will not be released until a parent or guardian is present. No student will be allowed to walk into the parking lot unsupervised. Be sure your child’s teacher is informed of your preferred pick-up location to avoid any confusion.

Traffic Rules and Additional Notes

  • DO NOT MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM THE SOUTH PARKING LOT EXIT!! This is a right-turn-only exit. If you need to head left or go northbound, you must exit from the north side of the lot.

  • During the first week of school and on special event days, the parking lot can become especially crowded. Many families choose to park south of the school at Blessed Sacrament Church and walk north to the campus. If you do this, please be respectful of church property and ensure that parking is permitted in the area you choose.

  • East Sunnyside is not available for parking during school hours and has clear signage posted to indicate this. Always check local signage to avoid parking violations or causing traffic issues in the surrounding neighborhoods.

We know mornings and afternoons can be hectic, but your calm, courteous, and cooperative behavior helps model the right values for your children. You are their first and most important role model. Thank you for doing your part to keep our school community safe and positive.
